Why does my chinese dad want to chop off my hair?

i'm a chinese guy, and ihave been growing out my hair cuz i is from the south and that looks more better fitting to me than a typical short chinese cut. i got the face to pull off long hair, many other asians with long hair will look like p@ncys, little prissy bitches. but i look good with any type of hair. i have had short hair, i've experimented. i find that most asians with short or spikey hair look like douches, comeplete jackasses. anyways i am a chinese southerner. southern american. you know deep south. not south china. my father is still with his orient cultures or whatever. but why is he telling me to chop off my beautiful hair? i mean. if he is going to act orient at least be true to the orients. i mean back in ancient china , the chinese sported long hair anyways. so what is up with that?

Its probably the best way to look like a descent man to him and his friends.In America it's easier to get a good job when groomed properly.Don't take that as an Insult.I like Like long hair too.But once I was in the service they taught me better.Besides...I found that most women like me better in short hair.It's classier.I also Dyed it for that Sexy look.Women love it when done right.

I think your father just wants to see good and is interested in making good image for you and important people that may give you better opportunities.Better Jobs.

Besides if you say you look good in all hair styles then it should be OK.Try it you might like it.You can always grow it back.

Your father might be right.Even my brother told me I would like my hair better shorter and he's 12 years younger then me.I found out he was right.

Back when [mostly] England (and other European countries like Spain and such) had China; they got the custom of letting Chinese grow long hair. Why? Because the Europeans also had Asian slaves; and if they needed to control them; they'd just pull their hair. Like a dog; even the English said that.

Perhaps the cultural thing stuck; I know some people that believe that.

former days when Chinese laborers came

to the West Coast and Alaska to pan for

gold or to cook and sew and clean for the

wealthy miners. Many of the Chinese wound up rich and sent lots of money back home.

where I live there were forests to be cleared. The Chinese did that and they worked on the ships that daily travelled from Canada to San Francisco(the clipper ships).

This West coast would not have been

settled or grown had it not been for the

Chinese worker--and they were treated

very badly. BUT!! They were devoutly

religious. The one thing they prized more

than all else was their Que. They wore

braided hair down to their hind sights.

The Chinese women stayed in China,

but when their husbands prospoured, they

came over also. The Chinese have a

great heritage in this country. Tell yor dad
