Really long hair is beautiful on a woman, and like that first guy said, if you get any split ends, then just cut them, but keep your hair at above butt level.

I would say cut it to your mid-back and get some layers in it. Pre-teens and young kids look good with super long hair, but as you get older it gets really hard to manage (especially if your hair is curly). Not only that, but cutting your hair is good for it because it prevents split ends.

Just don't cut any shorter than your shoulders, as that does not work for curly hair.

if you are going to cut more then 12 inches off donate it to locks of love...they make wigs for sick kids who have lost their hair. Your Mom doesn't sound very nice to say that. You should cut it if YOU want to. I cut my hair but not to make it short . I shortened it a little and gave it some layers. A hair stylist could give some pointers on what looks good.

maybe as a compromise, you could cut it a little bit, like to the middle of your back. then if you miss really long hair some days you could straighten it out. if your hair is curly, when you straighten it, you'll probably be surprised how much longer it is.
